BlackBerry's press release introduces us to its new executive

BlackBerry opened up the new work week with a press release, introducing a new executive to the company. Howard Stevens, with 20 years of sales experience in the telecom industry, has been named the new Senior Vice President of Global Carrier Sales. CEO John Chen said in a statement, that Stevens job will be to get new models like the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic into the hands of more customers, by having more carriers offer the phone.

Stevens' overall assignment is to develop marketing strategies to help BlackBerry's customers buy new phones, update to new enterprise-related software, and purchase value-added services. Stevens comes to BlackBerry from SAP, where he was general manager of the Global Telecom business unit. He will now report directly to CEO John Chen. Ironically, Chen's famous turnaround of moribund Sybase, resulted in SAP's purchase of the company.
''BlackBerry is in the midst of executing on a strong product roadmap with well-received offerings - from BES12 and BBM Protected to BlackBerry Passport and, very soon, Blackberry Classic. Under Howard Stevens' leadership, we will work more closely with our carrier partners to put these innovative products into the hands of more customers and position BlackBerry for faster growth.''-John Chen, CEO, BlackBerry
