Nokia is licensing its brand to Foxconn for the new N1 tablet

Nokia (the 'old' Nokia, the part that wasn't sold to Microsoft) announced its first ever Android tablet, the N1, today November 18th.

The product will be made by Foxconn, and Nokia is only licensing its name to be used. Aside from the brand, Nokia contributed to the design too, which means Foxconn will be paying it royalties for both the name and the design. All upcoming devices bearing the Nokia brand will look and feel as if they were built by Nokia itself, just like the N1.

With that in mind, the company isn't planning on getting back into the gadget marketing business, it will just keep on selecting over-the-top products worthy of its name and let it be marketed and sold by others (just like the N1 tablet).
