"CHIBOK ABDUCTION A SETBACK TO GIRL CHILD EDUCATION"

 Girl child education in Northern states will be adversely affected if the abduction of schools girls continues, and if the over 200 school girls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Bornu State are not rescued, the Soroptimist International (SI) Nigeria chapter has said.
 A statement issued by the President of the Abuja chapter of the association, Mrs Medinah Huthman said it was unfortunate that this is `happening at a time when the girl child education in the Northern part of the country is witnessing a boost, and parents are now being motivated to send their female children to school. 
The group described the abduction as worrisome and a barbaric development.
They called for stringent security measures to be put in place to protect the schools in the north.
